With a vision for creating a vibrant downtown, Maple Ridge is investing in the downtown as the centre of the community.
As outlined in the Official Community Plan, downtown is the ideal location for new investment in office, retail, and commercial businesses. The Town Centre Development Plan (Item 10.4 of the OCP) provides additional detailed information on the plan for the downtown core.
Public transportation has been a focus for the downtown. Both the Port Haney Westcoast Express Station and the Haney Transit Exchange provide exceptional access to public transit. The Haney Transit Exchange is a centralized stopping point for nine bus routes, where eight bus bays are clustered together to provide ease while transferring routes.
Residential development in Maple Ridge's downtown is fully supported by all departments as well as Mayor and Council.
