Maple Ridge's Transportation System Keeps Getting Better

Maple Ridge is the destination of over $1.1 billion of transportation improvements within the next five years. Major projects include the Golden Ears Bridge and new Pitt River Bridge, continued twinning of Highway 7 and additional local improvements. Both the Golden Ears Bridge and new Pitt River Bridge are scheduled to be completed in 2009, significantly improving the flow of goods and people.

What Does this Mean for Future Development in Maple Ridge?

Maple Ridge's industrial roots lie in agriculture, fisheries, forestry and mining, and our primary industries reflect this history. While wood processing and agriculture are still major employers in Maple Ridge, our economy has been diversifying into the service sector and other manufactured goods, including boat building, metal fabrication, battery manufacturing, and plastics.

The new Golden Ears Bridge and Pitt River Bridge will shorten commutes considerably. Set to open in 2009, the Golden Ears Bridge is a brand new gateway connecting Maple Ridge with all key transportation routes in the region.
