Labour Force
Although 65% of our labour force are employed in Vancouver and communities throughout the Lower Mainland, many of these individuals are looking for employment closer to their homes. As a growing community, commercial services and other amenities have increased and employ many of our residents. Maple Ridge has a higher than average percentage of jobs in traditional industries such as agriculture and wood related industries. Newer high tech industry, light and medium manufacturing, construction, and retail, as well as non-commercial and government service also employ a high percentage of our available labour force. Employment in the wholesale trade, finance, insurance, real estate, and business service sectors are lower than average.
