Airport Access
Maple Ridge is Accessible to Three Airports
Maple Ridge businesses, travellers and aviators have their choice of the nearby Pitt Meadows Airport, the Vancouver International Airport or Abbotsford International Airport, both of equal distance from Maple Ridge.
The Pitt Meadows Airport, located 2.5 km east of the junction of the Pitt and Fraser Rivers, serves the area north of the Fraser River from Mission to Vancouver. It has two paved runways of 1,310 and 762 metres respectively, with a staffed control tower. The Pitt Meadows Airport is the home base for three major rotary wing operations, provides a float aircraft dock and ramp, and serves approximately 225 locally based float and regular aircraft. It offers a variety of both aviation and non-aviation services, including (but not limited to) aviation support services, scheduled passenger service, flight training and skydiving school, charter service and air ambulance.
The Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is located approximately one hour from Maple Ridge by car, although travel time will be reduced with the completion of the Golden Ears Bridge and other roadway improvements. With three major runways, YVR is a major hub of the Asia Pacific air transportation system. Its passenger throughput was 16 million in 2006; in the same year it moved 223 thousand tonnes of cargo directly to destinations all over the world. Passengers at YVR are served by 23 domestic and 33 international carriers.
The Abbotsford Regional Airport (YXX) is located approximately forty minutes from Maple Ridge by car. YXX is Vancouver's low cost and hassle free airport serving BC and North West Washington State. YXX provides year round and seasonal air service and packaged holidays between YXX and over 60 non-stop.
