Arts & Culture

Artists have long called Maple Ridge home. The community is populated with a mix of visual artists, musicians and performing artists. Maple Ridge is proud of our artistic community and has helped incubate artistic endeavours through support and investment.

The Maple Ridge Arts Centre & Theatre (The ACT) is the permanent home of the arts in our community. The Arts Centre & Theatre serves as a gathering place for artists and the communities. It is a place where creativity is celebrated and nurtured. This downtown centre unites the many diverse aspects of these communities, providing a home for the rich history of local art, a showcase for first class entertainment, and a superb facility for business development.

The facility, built with a combination of public, corporate and individual donations, is located in the heart of the action of downtown Maple Ridge at the end of Memorial Peace Park. The anchor of this building is the 500 seat theatre that boasts a 40' X 80' sprung stage with computerized lighting system. The design is intimate and the seats are comfortable with incredible site lines. In addition, the Act contains the 2300 sq. ft. Genstar Theatre, a board room, art studios, and an art gallery.

Arts and cultural events are also hosted at various other venues in Maple Ridge. View the District of Maple Ridge website for more on municipal facilities, community halls and centres, or School District No. 42 website to view available theatres in secondary schools.
