Hosting a Film Production
Register your Home or Business as a Film Location
Film, commercial and television production is a billion dollar industry and provides tremendous financial benefits to communities across the province. More than 25,000 BC residents are employed by the industry and Maple Ridge is quickly becoming well-known as a "film friendly" community. Businesses and home owners in Maple Ridge can also share in the revenues generated by filming in our community while helping to provide employment opportunities in BC. Many film companies are interested in filming in the businesses, homes and neighbourhoods in Maple Ridge, and property owners can typically earn between $500 and $1,500 per day, depending on the needs and complexity of the production.
Registering your property as a filming location is simple. The first step is to create a digital "photo file" of your property, a virtual tour in pictures, and to submit it to the BC Film Commission. The BC Film Commission holds your files and promotes each registered property to the film industry while protecting your right to privacy.
Film Production on Residential or Commercial Property
If your residential or commercial property is selected by a company for filming, a location manager will contact you to arrange the details of the filming. To confirm the validity of the location manager or production company, call the BC Film Commission at 604-660-2732. The Film Production Liaison for the District of Maple Ridge works with each location manager to ensure public concerns are addressed and resolved and help guide you through the process, ensuring that your needs are met throughout the filming production.
Protecting Citizen's, Local Business and Production Companies
The District of Maple Ridge works to maintain a balance between the needs of residents, business owners and film production staff. However, please keep in mind that the needs and requirements of local business and residents are our first priority. Any concerns regarding filming may be directed to Marg Johnson, Film Production Liaison.
